Revamping the Round Top Inn Web Presence

In late 2010, the owner of the historic Round Top Inn in Round Top, Texas, approached Spoke Creative Group to improve the functionality of the Inn’s newly-redesigned website. The client felt the site was too hard to manage himself, and was unhappy with the way it was set up–he also wanted help establishing a social media presence, but didn’t know where to start.

After a trip out to tour the Inn and meet the owner, we knew this was just the kind of project we were looking for. While the site design was aesthetically solid, the functionality of it–particularly on the back-end–was less-than-ideal. We recreated the website using a content management system called WordPress in order to achieve the professional look, ease-of-use, and built-in optimization the client was looking for, and added an analytics tool to allow for a deeper understanding of exactly how people are using the website.

Once that was complete, we created a blog for the Inn and added a little design flare to set it apart from the rest of the website, and recommended that an e-mail sign-up be added to allow people access to special rates and discounts. We also took over management of the Inn’s social media presence on Facebook and Twitter.

We continue to work closely with Round Top Inn to promote the Inn through the blog, as well as through Twitter and Facebook. From maintaining the website, to developing content, to managing contacts lists, to handling the blog and social media presence, Spoke is remains actively involved in Round Top Inn’s new web presence.

Hammerhhead Bicycles is a boutique North Austin bike shop specializing in premier high-end mountain bikes, in addition to its own line of exclusive custom frames.

In 2007, new ownership took over, determined to reach out to Austin’s vibrant cycling scene. A key aspect of this initiative would be the creation and establishment of a new, interactive web site that would not only promote the Hammerhead Bicycles brand, but that would provide previously-unavailable resources and service to the entire Austin cycling community.

To achieve this goal, Hammerhead Bicycles teamed up with Spoke Creative Group. The partnership resulted in a dynamic web 2.0 portal featuring discussion boards, a multi-author blog, and a network of Twitter accounts dedicated to frequent updates on local trail conditions.
